If sweet stuff doesn’t really tickle your fancy, we suggest a different but similarly traditional Hungarian specialty, a spirit called Unicum. It was in 1790 that Doctor Zwack, Royal Physician to the Imperial Court, offered the Habsburg monarch a sip of Unicum as a remedy for indigestion to which the royal comment was, at least according to the legend, ‘Dr. Zwack, das ist ein Unikum!’ giving the herb liqueur its name. The fame and popularity of Unicum gradually spread far beyond the Court in Vienna and with the first factory having been esatblished in 1840, the rest is history. If you are interested in the history of  the Zwack family and one of emblematic brands of Hungary, you will definitely have a good time in the Zwack Museum.
